SUPERVISOR CARDIO-NEURO DIAGNOSTICS

Under the supervision of the Medical Director and Manager, Heart & Vascular Institute, the supervisor cardio-neuro diagnostics provides supervision to clinical and clerical support staff of the Cardiology and Neurology Diagnostic Department throughout Riverside Healthcare. Is accountable for the performance metrics and outcomes of the department throughout Riverside Healthcare. Coordinates department activities between nurses, technologists, clerical and medical staff. Ensures that all polices and procedures are followed.  

Essential Duties

• Plans, coordinates, and directs the daily operations of the staff throughout RHC. Monitors scheduling and registration of patients, coordinates with other leaders to troubleshoot.
• Responsible for staff daily assignments, scheduling time off and maintaining adequate coverage for the department throughout RHC.
• Supervises and effectively delegates to staff to reach management objectives.
• Participates in the interviewing, hiring, training and performance evaluation of staff.
• Provides feedback and administers corrective action when necessary.
• Assists with department/division research projects.
• Assists/coordinates regulated department certifications and registries.
• Compiles and analyzes operational and financial data to improve efficiency and reimbursement.
• Coordinates and oversees department quality assurance and improvement activities.
• Reviews Polices and Procedures according to established cadences and recommends revisions as necessary. Collaborates on reviews with the Medical Director or their designees.
• Assists with identifying opportunities for productivity improvement.
• Collects, analyzes, interprets data, and produces management reports utilizing current software and/or applications to support the division and program's operations.
• Develops materials and techniques for staff development that impact operations and standard procedures/policies.
• Maintains and orders supplies, purchase requisitions entry, budget management, timekeeper.
• May delegate when appropriate.
• Ensures operational processes and policies are compliant with corporate standards, IAC and applicable local, state and federal regulations.
• Attends and participates in department, committees, and other meetings regularly.
• Available on an \"\"On Call\"\" basis for emergency procedures and administrative direction when necessary.
• Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
• Performs role of a nurse or echosonographer at times to ensure coverage and maintain licensure requirements.

Required Experience

• Two (2) years or more experience as an Echosonographer or Exercise Physiologist
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of staff and a patient population composed of diverse cultures and age groups
• ability to analyze and reconcile large data sets
• Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail 
• Ability to manage projects and lead teams

Preferred Experience

• Two (2) years of experience in a technical leadership role and/or supervising in a healthcare setting

Required Licensure/Education

• Associates degree from an accredited college or university
• Registered as a nurse in the state of Illinois
• CPR certification required
• ACLS certification required

Preferred Education

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Graduate of an approved school of nursing, BSN preferred

• Chemicals: Disinfectants, alcohol, Bensoin, Betadine, adhesive removers, chloraprep, room deodorizers, others per MSDS sheets. 
• Video Display Terminals: Average 
• Blood and Body Fluids: Occasionally must obtain blood/urine specimens. Frequent potential exposure during diaper changes. Occasional exposure during IV therapy initiation/medication administration. 
• TB or Airborne Pathogens: Occasional possible exposure from infected patients, visitors and families. Usage of protective wear and universal precautions minimize risk.

Sensory requirements (speech, vision, smell, hearing, touch):

• Speech: Required to communicate with patient/families/staff/MDs. Ability to ask for help. 
• Vision: Needed for assessment, use of CIS, interpreting monitors, using all equipment, giving meds, starting IVs. Smell: Helpful to note presence of incontinence, vomitus, blood; electrical/fire safety. 
• Hearing: Needed for communication while wearing mask, obtaining vital signs, doing assessment, detecting monitor and equipment alarms, detecting calls for help, crying, obstruction, becoming aware of parent/family concerns, obtaining MD phone or verbal or PA announcements and alarms. 
• Touch: Needed for routine care procedures and assessment, use of all equipment.

(Example: the distance material is carried; how high material is lifted, etc.): Lifting of patients off their beds that are unable to move independently is done with assistive lifting equipment. Horizontal movement of patients to and from carts/beds who are unable to move independently is done with assistive lifting equipment. Lifting equipment - carry 25'- 150' waist high (IV bags, patient trays). Carry charts 25'-150' waist high. Filled laundry bags are filled half full so as not to weigh over 35 lbs. Carry fire extinguishers up or down 3-4 flights of stairs and several yards in an emergency.
