Overview

The RN/Educational Specialist assumes the role of facilitator, trainer and resource person as necessary for new employees' orientation and staff development/continuing education, applying instructional design, organizational development, and performance consulting skills. Demonstrates flexibility with work duties within scope/licensure. Additional duties also include coverage as needed acting as Nurse Manager within the facility needing coverage. 

 

Scheduling Requirements: This role is expected to be on call with a call rotation. 

 

Essential Duties

  • Consult collaboratively with departments/areas to assure appropriate education and competencies, and provide support in tracking orientation and competencies.
  • Demonstrates creative and coherent presentational skills including development of instructor-led and self-study or WBT training classes.
  • Evaluates and develops training materials using most effective and efficient instructional design methods for learners and recommends hard wiring plans for achieving behavioral change.
  • Facilitate new employee and student orientation, assessing successful course completion/learning gains,.
  • Performs needs assessment to coordinate and provide educational programs in response to learning/performance improvement needs of all RHC staff/students and designed to facilitate meeting IDPH/CMS/IDPH and other regulatory agency and accrediting requirements.
  • Provide support to staff during implementation process(es), applying change management and organizational development models.
  • Reserve, track, set up and maintain/operate audiovisual and CPR equipment.
  • Schedule meeting rooms.
  • Serve as a facilitator/educational resource for RHC including active support on various Riverside committees/teams.

Responsibilities

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience and healthcare training. 
  • Performance consulting, organizational development experience preferred

Required Licensure/Education

  • Current IL RN license

Preferred Education

  • Bachelors degree in nursing or related field preferred
  • Competence in technical, clinical and teaching/learning skill
  • American Heart Association CPR instructor, preferred
