Overview

The RN/Educational Specialist assumes the role of facilitator, trainer and resource person as necessary for new employees' orientation and staff development/continuing education, applying instructional design, organizational development, and performance consulting skills.

Essential Duties

  • Consult collaboratively with departments/areas to assure appropriate education and competencies, and provide support in tracking orientation and competencies.
  • Coordinates and conducts clinical simulations for health system.
  • Coordinates, conducts, debriefs, and reports on mock codes to assure optimal vigilance.
  • Demonstrates creative and coherent presentational skills including development of instructor-led and self-study or WBT training classes.
  • Evaluates and develops training materials using most effective and efficient instructional design methods for learners and recommends hard wiring plans for achieving behavioral change.
  • Facilitate new employee and student orientation, assessing successful course completion/learning gains, and may assist with PBDS administration.
  • Performs needs assessment to coordinate and provide educational programs in response to learning/performance improvement needs of all RHC staff/students and designed to facilitate meeting IDPH/CMS and other regulatory agency and accrediting requirements.
  • Prepares and communicates patient experience reports, and consults on patient experience.
  • Provide support to staff during implementation process(es), applying change management and organizational development models.
  • Schedule meeting rooms.
  • Reserve, track, set up and maintain/operate audiovisual and CPR equipment.
  • Serve as a facilitator/educational resource for RHC including active support on various Riverside committees/teams.

Responsibilities

Required Experience

  • Competence in technical, clinical and teaching/learning skills

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience and healthcare training, performance consulting, organizational development experience preferred

Required Licensure/Education

  • Graduate of approved school of nursing, BSN required.
  • Current IL RN license

Preferred Education

  • American Heart Association CPR instructor, preferred

  • Hearing: Needed for telephone communication, meetings and listening to employee concerns, determining the quality and use of audio aids, HIS information and CPR training.
  • Touch: Needed to write, computer entry, filing, CPR training.
