Overview

Riverside Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Clinical Exercise Physiologist to join our multidisciplinary team in Kankakee, Illinois. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the physiological principles behind exercise and rehabilitation, and will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care.

Essential Duties

  • Patient Assessment: Starts IVs for testing when appropriate. Performs exercise stress testing, holter monitor placement and EKGs.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Continuously monitor patients' progress during stress testing, adjusting as needed based on medical condition changes.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all patient interactions, assessments, and progress notes in compliance with Riverside Healthcares standards and regulations.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies during stress testing, including administering basic life support (BLS) and using automated external defibrillators (AED) if necessary.
  • Patient Experience: Engage with patients and their families in a manner that promotes comfort, trust, and understanding. Address patient concerns with empathy and professionalism, striving to create a positive and supportive environment that fosters a sense of security and well-being.

Responsibilities

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably working with patients who have chronic diseases or cardiovascular conditions.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience helpful but not necessary

Required Licensure/Education

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or a related field from an accredited institution. 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.

Preferred Education

  • Current certification as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or a similar credentialing organization.

  • Touch: Necessary for writing, computer entry, filing, B/P's.
