Overview

Riverside Healthcare is seeking a skilled Network Administrator to architect, evaluate, install, document, monitor, and support all components of the organization's wired and wireless networks, including telecommunication systems. The Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining network security, managing Wide Area Network (WAN) connections, and ensuring the operation and integrity of telecommunication systems across the hospital and satellite facilities. This role serves as Tier 2 support for end users and plays a critical role in maintaining VPN and Internet connectivity.

 

Essential Duties

Network Design and Maintenance:

  • Assist in design, administration, and implementation of LAN and WAN network solutions to meet organizational needs.
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software for network switches, routers, servers, and telecommunications systems.
  • Maintain and monitor network security to ensure the confidentiality of electronic communications.

System Monitoring and Support:

  • Monitor network performance and respond to system-generated alarms, ensuring timely issue resolution.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for end users, troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues.
  • Manage VPN and Internet connectivity, maintaining seamless and secure access.

Collaboration and Vendor Management:

  • Act as the primary liaison to phone service providers and other network-related vendors.
  • Coordinate with service providers for new equipment installations, maintenance, and operational support.
  • Create and maintain documentation of network topology, inventory, and maintenance schedules.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare trends, standards, and regulations related to healthcare information systems.
  • Implement, document, and maintain network security protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and current records of all network components, including cable runs, PBX systems, and repair work.

Flexibility:

  • Demonstrate flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.
  • Be available for on call as scheduled.
  • Works above scheduled FTE, as needed, as a salaried professional.

 

Non-essential Duties

  • Make recommendations for improving network performance, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist in the development of capital equipment purchase recommendations and operating budget needs.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and repair phone switch systems and paging systems.

Responsibilities

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience with documented training in the networking fields, including switching, routing, or PBX
  • Comprehensive knowledge of practices, procedures, and application of various types of PBX systems or Network systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Preferred Experience

  • May specialize in certain types of equipment requiring special training or experience, but also capable of handling problems with a variety of equipment or systems
  • Experience in a healthcare environment a plus

Required Education

  • None

Preferred Education

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
  • Cisco (CCNA, CCNP), HP, Aruba, CompTIA Network+ certifications preferred with expectations that appropriate certifications will be obtained within first year of employment
